Pillow Talk #4

I'm going to keep it short this week because I don't know if you've noticed, but it's Christmas Eve!

This week has flown by in a flash, I've eaten multiple Christmas dinners, had lots of fun at my work Christmas party, squeezed in some last minute shopping aaaaand relived my childhood by playing The Sims 3.

Life is good.

Since everything's been so hectic, I've been reading less and listening more, turning my attention to a few more podcasts than usual on my way home from work to keep me awake and make me feel somewhat productive during this end of year slump.

To begin, if you haven't heard of Ctrl Alt Delete, where have you been? Ctrl Alt Delete is a podcast hosted by the lovely Emma Gannon. Each episode features a different guest and covers topics such as careers, feminism, writing, and just life in general. I am totally that girl who can't just listen to the most recent episode, instead, I have to go back through the archives and listen in order. This week I listened to the episodes with Cherry Healy where she actually interviews Emma. It's full of laughs and this made me feel super motivated to keep working away on this little blog of mine come the new year.

I've also been delving through the archives of Sara Tasker's Hashtag Authentic podcast, primarily focusing on Instagram and how you can get the most out of your profile and creative efforts. I listened to an episode this week with Hannah Argyle all about being a pro-instagrammer and remembering no matter how tempting an offer maybe if it's not you, don't go with it. This is in relation to brand opportunities, bare in mind. (On that note - Chloe from The Little Plum wrote a post this week on saying goodbye to YouTube because it's just not her. Fantastic read.)

Although this is something I haven't actually dipped my toes into yet, it is something I'm going to remember for future reference. I'd recommend Sara's podcast if you need some Instagram inspo!

Usually Pillow Talk is quite a lot longer than this post, however, I'm going to keep it short and sweet today as a) It's Christmas Eve and I want to enjoy the day with my friends and fam (plus I've got some last minute presents to wrap) and b) I've written a couple of chunky posts lately which I'd like to point you in the direction of...

In last week's Pillow Talk I went into a lot of detail about internet trolls and the abuse creators are facing online. This is a topic which really gets me thinking and I'd love to hear your thoughts about it, as well as the effects it is having on the younger generation. I also published a meaty post on Friday about why I document so much of my life - this is actually part 1 of 2, as I'm going to expand on it further in the next week or so. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this and whether taking photos and filming much of your life is good, or do you think it stops you living in the moment?

Let me know in the comments or tweet me @beccasocial.

That's honestly about it for the last week. This week I'm going to be making the most of my week off work by enjoying time with my friends, setting up my new bullet journal, and playing sims every night for way too many hours.

On that note, I'd like to wish you a very Merry Christmas!
